Book Description
This riotously funny collection features work from the first six issues of Claypool's much-hailed Soulsearchers & Company comics series, nominated by the British Comics Professionals Society as Best Humor Comic. It offers the early adventures of the funniest supernatural investigators who ever existed. In it, youll discover the roots of the hot-tempered team leader Bridget, the Arabic fire demon Baraka, the apprentice witch Kelly, the teenage shape-shifter Janocz, and the nervous accountant Peterson in their first forays against the forces of farcical fright! /

This material had initial low circulation and is in high demand today. The book includes: "Puppet Dictatorship," in which a cadre of killer marionettes target kids'-show hosts; "Pastramia on Wry," introducing Janocz; "Season of Misseds," the war between the dream-demons (a parody of the popular comic book Sandman); "Into the Woods," a twisted excursion into fairy-tales; and "Spin Cycle," wherein the Soulsearchers get a make-over into more commercial models (a parody of the well-known comics company Image). /

Stories and art by: Peter (Hulk, Aquaman, Spider-Man 2099) David, Amanda (Vampirella) Conner, Jim (Spider-Man) Mooney, Steve (Hitchhiker's Guide) Leialoha, and Richard (Portia Prinz) Howell. New color cover by original Soulsearchers artist Amanda Conner with Steve Leialoha; introduction by Peter David.

In his own words: /

"I've been drawing and inking comics for more or less the past twenty-five years such titles as Dr. Strange, Jonny Demon, Dark Dominion, Deadbeats, Doom , Daredevil, Devil Dinosaur, Destroyer Duck, No Ducks, and the Big Book of Bad. Also keeping me busy was my work on Firestar, Star*Reach, Star Trek, Star Wars, Secret Wars, War Machine, Machine Man, Iron Man, Sandman, Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Incredible Hulk, and She-Hulk. /

"My very first printed comic was in 1967 (I was still in high school), for Len Wein and Marv Wolfman's fanzine Strange Suspense Stories. Fortunately, no copies exist today. /

"I really began working as a full-time professional in April of '75 when Jim Starlin asked me to ink his pencils on Warlock. That was followed a month later with Frank Brunner asking me to ink Howard the Duck beginning with #1. It's been just that peculiar ever since.
