About the Author
Packie Manus Byrne was born in the hills of southwest Donegal in 1917. A well-known and well-loved traditional singer and musician, Packie has enjoyed an unusually rich and varied working life. Leaving home at the age of twenty, he worked all over England and Ireland as a laborer, cattle drover, steeplejack, actor and circus hand before achieving fame as a folk performer.
