About the Author
Gary B. Shelly and Tom J. Cashman, wrote and published their first computer education textbook in 1969. More than twenty million copies of Shelly Cashman textbooks have been sold. Gary, Tom, and a talented group of contributing authors have produced leading textbooks on computer programming, computer concepts, and application software. Thomas J. Cashman received his education at California State University, L.A. He established one of the first business data processing programs in the U.S. at Long Beach City College in California, where he taught and served as department head. In 1969, he began collaborating with now best-selling author, Gary Shelly. Joy L. Starks is an assistant professor of Computer and Information Technology at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. She has written chapters in several of the Shelly Cashman Series Office books and authored the Java Programming and Microsoft Office Publisher 2003 series of books. Michael L. Mick is an associate professor of Computer Information Systems and Computer Technology at Purdue University Calumet. He has authored or co-authored several textbooks for Course Technology, including Java Programming, JavaScript, and Microsoft FrontPage 2002.
