Access to the Airwaves: My Fight for Free Radio
Editorial Reviews
From Independent Publisher
The spirit of the sixties is alive and well in this book. In a chatty autobiography that can be summarized as radio, radio, and more radio, Weiner shows how great it is to have parents willing to nurture a child's passion, how the educational system largely fails someone who knows what he likes to do early in life, how junk collecting has deteriorated, how listening is more active than looking, how listener call-in talk radio is democracy in action, how a techie got a political conscience, how to get tailed and arrested for the victimless crime of free radio, and how to keep coming back. Even readers who have never thought about "pirate" radio before will find it hard to resist Weiner's enthusiasm and inventiveness. The free speech issues that he raises should be of interest to every thinking person. Those following in his path will find a lot of useful information about do's and don't's, and anyone trying to follow a dream should be inspired by Weiner's tenacity, quirkiness and imagination. An index would have been nice, but this isn't an academic book; it's more like a vitamin-packed breakfast drink for your inner child.
